Longing- A Poem Relating To Bibi Fatimah (as)

By Kulsum Kermali

The Sun longs for the day that it can light your grave,

The stars long for the day that they can be shamed by the beauty of your grave,

The wind longs for the day that it can brush your grave,

The clouds dream of the day they can shade your grave,

The earth, it yearns for the day it can reveal your grave.

The birds long for the day that they can revolve around your grave,

Written words, they yearn to be read, by your grave.

Dry lips long for the day they can kiss your grave,

Shaking knees long for the day they can kneel by your grave,

Tearing eyes dream of the day they can weep by your grave,

Wrinkled foreheads long for the day they can rest on your grave,

Raised hands long for the day they can clutch your grave,

Melancholic tongues yearn for the day they can praise you by your grave,

Dedicated soldiers long for the day they can stand guard by your grave.

The Lovers of Fatima long for the day they can chain themselves to her grave…

Teachings Of Prophet Jesus- Through Shiite Traditions. (Part 1/6)

Jesus (pbuh) said, “Whoever is content with the destiny of Allah, it is as if his works are in accord with the gospel.”

(Jàmi‘ al-Akhbàr, 180)

Jesus (pbuh) said, “Sleeping on a mat and eating barely bread for seeking paradise is expeditious.”

(Majmu‘a Warràm, 2, 230)

The Prophet said, “Jesus (pbuh) said, ‘We bring what is revealed for you, but as for the interpretation, it will be brought by the Paraclete (fàrqilíT) at the end of time.’”

(‘Awàlí al-La’àlí, 4, 124)

Ja‘far ibn Muhammad narrated from his fathers, in order, that ‘Alí the son of Abu Tàlib (pbuh) said, “One day, the Apostle of Allah was among us on the mountain of Tahàma, and Muslims were around him. Then an old man with a staff in his hand came. The Apostle of Allah looked at him and said, ‘One with the walk, voice and pride of a jinn has come.’ He greeted him and the Apostle of Allah returned the greeting and said, ‘Who are you?’ He said, ‘I am Hàma the son of al-Hím the son of Làqís the son of Iblís.’ The Apostle of Allah said, ‘Glory be to Allah, glory be to Allah, there is no one between you and Iblis unless two fathers!’ He said, ‘… And I met Moses the son of ‘Imràn. He said to me, ‘When you meet Jesus the son of Mary, greet him.’ I met Jesus the son of Mary and greeted him. He said to me, ‘When you meet Muhammad, greet him.’ So I greet you O the Apostle of Allah from Jesus the son of Mary.’ The Apostle of Allah said, ‘Glory be to Allah. May Allah bless Jesus as long as the world remains.’”

(Ja‘faryyàt, 176)

Imam Aliu said, “Jesus the son of Mary (pbuh) said, ‘Verily the evil doer is infectious, and the associate of the wicked is brought down. So beware of those with whom you associate.’”

(Kàfí, 2, 640, 4)

I heard Imam Ridà (pbuh) say, “Jesus the son of Mary, may Allah bless him, said to the apostles, ‘O Children of Israel! Do not grieve over what you lose of this world, just as the people of this world do not grieve over what they lose of their religion, when they gain this worldof theirs.’”

(Kàfí, 2, 137, 25)

Imam Sàdiq (pbuh) said, “Jesus the son of Mary, peace be with our Prophet and his progeny and with him, said, ‘Woe unto the evil scholars! How the fire inflames them!’”

(Kàfí, 1, 47, 2)

And he (Jesus (pbuh) said, “How long will you be advised without taking any advice? Certainly you have become a burden to the advisors.”

(Àdàb al-Nafs, 1, 175)

It is reported from Imam Sàdiq (pbuh) from his father that he said, “Jesus (pbuh) used to say, ‘Regarding the fright which you do not know when you will encounter [i.e. death], what prevents you from preparing for it before it comes upon you suddenly?’”

(Bihàr, 14, 336, 67)

Imam Ja`far (pbuh) said, “Jesus the son of Mary (pbuh) said, ‘He who lies much looses his worth.’”

(Kàfí, 2, 341, 13)

It is reported that Abu ‘Abdullah, [Imam Sàdiq (pbuh)] said, “The Messiah used to say: ‘He who often becomes upset, his body becomes sick; he whose character is bad, his self becomes his torment; he who often talks, often stumbles; he who often lies, he loses his worth; he who quarrels with men, he loses his manliness.’”

(Bihàr, 14, 318, 17)

It is reported that the Commander of the Faithful [Imam Ali (pbuh] said, “Jesus the son of Mary (pbuh) said, ‘The dinar is the illness of religion, and the scholar (al-‘àlim) is the physician of religion. So if you see that the physician brings illness upon himself, distrust him, and know that he is not to advise others.’”

(Bihàr, 14, 319, 21)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Another aspect that the Qur’an’s importance can be seen and understood
is by looking it as:

Surah Yaseen, ayah 2 and 3:

وَالْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيمِ {2}
[Shakir 36:2] I swear by the Quran full of wisdom

إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ {3}
[Shakir 36:3] Most surely you are one of the messengers

“I swear by the Quran full of wisdom.”

In this holy verse the Lord of the worlds swears by the Quran, which itself is a true testimony to the messenger ship of Muhammad (‘s).
This shows extreme nicety of the holy verse, which, if you ponder over it, has both sworn and presented a proof of its stand. Quran itself is a witness to the truth that Muhammad (‘s) is a Messenger of God!

The phrase, “full of wisdom” implies that whatever knowledge we have is from this Holy Book. How amazing is it that we have a gift right in front of us but yet we tend to ignore it at times. Surely, this is not an ordinary book which can be written by anyone and that is why we see that the challenge is open, “Say: If men and jinn should combine together to bring the like of this Quran, they could not bring the
like of it, though some of them were aiders of others.”

Then how is it that this book (Quran) is full of the foremost and the latest sciences? And whatever is necessary for mankind, a variety of
sciences. Is there any room for doubting that it is sent only by Almighty God? It is before your own eyes that Muhammad (‘s) passed
forty years of his life in Mecca. He has not come from any other place. Is there anyone who can claim that he had a teacher or he went
to a school? So these sciences are definitely not his own. Necessarily they are from Almighty God.

Mulla Ali Fadhil Words of Sorrow

Mulla Ali Fadhil Words of Sorrow

Speech Of Fadak

In The Name Of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

“The most excellent of the women of all worlds are: Mary the daughter of Imran, Khadija the daughter of Khuwaylid, Fatimah the daughter of Muhammad, and Asiya the wife of Pharaoh.” – The Holy Prophet Mohammed (pbuh).

Lady Fatimah (pbuh), the daughter of the Holy Prophet, is regarded as The Lady of Light, and holds a high status in the religion of Islam. Her bravery, sacrifice, generosity and worship (Ibadah) highlight her noble personality.

One of the most important historical events during her life was the claiming of her right to the property of Fadak, which was gifted to her by the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Her speech regarding Fadak remains to be a unique piece of art and is one that every believer should read and ponder over.

When the Prophet (PBUH) returned from the battle of Khaybar, he sent Muhisa bin Masood to propagate Islam to the people of Khaybar. The people of Fadak, refused to accept Islam, but offered to give them half of their land of Fadak, as part of a peace treaty. Fadak was an area of land – a village – in the area then known as Hejaz. Alongside Fadak, other areas of land and some of the castles of Khaybar were also given to the Prophet (PBUH).

The land of Fadak was known for its dates as almost a dozen date trees were planted by the Prophet (PBUH) himself and were a blessing for the people. Furthermore, the land generated a large amount of income that was used to finance the state and as well as for funding wars and battles.

The Prophet (PBUH) took half the land and through his mercy, allowed the Jews of Khaybar to live there. Thus, half of Fadak was the property of the Prophet (PBUH), as the Muslims did not have to fight to gain the spoils.

The Government at the time forcefully took Fadak from Lady Fatimah (pbuh), to whom the Prophet gifted the land of Fadak, and claimed it did not belong to her.

Allah sent down the following verse, clearly indicating the rightful owner of the land:

Whatever Allah has taken away from them and bestowed (as spoils) on His Messenger, for which you spurred neither horses nor camels; but Allah grants authority to His Messengers over whomsoever He pleases. Allah has power over everything.” Surah Hashr, Ayah 6.

The word “Ghanimah” in the Verse is that property (or money), which Muslims had worked to get, while “Fay” is that property (or money), in which Muslims did not have to shed blood for.

Lady Fatimah (A.S) went to the Caliph and asked him to return Fadak to her, to which he refused and asked for evidence. Lady Fatimah (A.S) brought forward Imam Ali (as) and Umm Ayman who testified; the Caliph refused claiming that a husband can’t act as a witness for his wife and in the Arabian culture; women are not considered as witnesses.

This forced Lady Fatimah (PBUH) to give a speech that shook the Caliphate. She began the speech by praising Allah and proclaiming the Prophet Hood of her Father and the Imamah of Ali (pbuh). She then introduced herself to the public and stated her relation to the Prophet and the legitimacy of Fadak.

She addressed the assembly as:

“O People! Be informed that I am Fatima (pbuh), and my father is Muhammad (pbuh). Whatever I say, I will say it till the end and will initiate it continually; be informed I (pbuh) say not anything but the omniscient. I seek My Allah (swt)’s willingness and gratification in everything I do.

Now hath come unto you an Apostle from amongst yourselves; It grieves him that you should perish; ardently anxious is he over you; to the believers he is most kind and merciful. Thus, if you identify and recognize him, you shall realize that he is my Father (pbuh) and not the father of any of your women; the brother of my cousin {Ali (pbuh)} rather than any of your men. Can there be an epitome of goodness in the entire universe other than the one associated with The Prophet (pbuh)?

Thus, He (pbuh) propagated the Message, by coming out openly with the warning, and while inclined away from the path of the polytheists, whom he struck their strength and seized their throats, while he invited all to the way of his Lord with wisdom and virtuous preaching. He (pbuh) destroyed idols, and defeated protagonists, until their group fled and turned their backs. So night revealed its dawn; righteousness uncovered its genuineness; the voice of the religious authority spoke out loud; the evil discords were silenced; the tightening of infidelity and desertion were untied. So you spoke the statement of devotion amongst a band of starved ones

And you were on the edge of a hole of fire; you were the drink of the drinkers; the opportunity of the desiring one; the fire brand of him who passes in haste; you had fallen lower than the dirt under the feet; you used to drink from the water gathered on roads; eat jerked meat. You were despised outcasts always in fear of abduction from those around you.

Yet, Allah (swt) rescued you through my father, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) after much ado, and after He was confronted by mighty men, the Arab beasts, and the demons of the people of the Book Who, whenever they ignited the fire of war, Allah (swt) extinguished it and whenever the thorn of the devil appeared, or a mouth of the polytheists opened wide in defiance, He would strike its discords with His brother Ali (pbuh), who comes not back until He treads its wing with the sole of His feet, and extinguishes its flames with His sword. Ali (pbuh) is diligent in Allah (swt)’s affairs, near to the Messenger of Allah (swt), a master among Allah (swt)s worshippers, setting to work briskly, sincere in His advice, earnest and exerting Himself in service to Islam.

While you were calm, happy and feeling safe in your comfortable lives, waiting for us {Ahlulbayt (pbut)} to meet calamities. You aspired for adversities to fall upon the Prophet’s Ahlulbayt (pbut); like foes you desired and yearned for the demise of The Prophet (pbuh) and craved for the calamities and grievances to strike us.

Awaiting the spread of news, you fell back during every battle, and took to your heels at times of fighting. Yet, when Allah (swt) chose His Prophet (pbuh) from the dwell of His prophets, and the abode of His sincere servants; the thorns of hypocrisy appeared on you, the garment of faith became worn out, the misguided ignorant(s) spoke out and the sluggish ignorant came to the front and betrayed. Then the camel of the vain wiggled his tail in your courtyards and the Devil stuck his head from its place of hiding and called upon you, he found you responsive to his invitation, and observing his deceits. He then aroused you and found you quick to answer him, and invited you to wrath, therefore; you branded other than your camels and proceeded to other than your drinking places. Then while the era of the Prophet (pbuh) was still near, the gash was still wide, the scar had not yet healed, and the Messenger (pbuh) was not yet buried, there was a quick undertaking as you claimed, aimed at preventing discord trial. Surely, the unbelievers have fallen into trial already and indeed hell surrounds them. What befell upon you and why did you turn away from veracity?

For Allah (swt)’s Book is still amongst you, its affairs are apparent; its rules are manifest; its signs are dazzling; its restrictions are visible, and its commands are evident. Yet, indeed you have casted it behind your backs! What! Do you detest it? Or you wish to rule according to something else? Evil would be the exchange for the wrongdoers! And if anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah (swt)), it never will it be accepted from Him; And in the hereafter, he will be in the ranks of those who have lost. Surely you have not waited until its stampede seized, and it became obedient. You then started arousing its flames, instigating its coal, complying with the call of the misled devil, quenching the light of the manifest religion, and extinguished the light of the sincere Prophet (pbuh). Ostensively you have embraced Islam but in reality you are still infidels.

You concealed sips on froth and proceeded towards His {the Prophet (pbuh)} kin and children in swamps and forests but We were patient with you even when we were being notched with knives and stung by spearheads in our chests, Yet-now you claim that there is no inheritance for us! What! “Do you then seek after a judgment of the days of ignorance? Is anyone a better judge than Allah (swt)? But how, for a people whose faith is assured, can anyone give better judgment than Allah (swt)? Don’t you know? Yes, indeed it is obvious to you that I am Prophet (pbuh)’s only daughter.

O Muslims! Will my inheritance be usurped?

O Caliph! Where is it in the Book of Allah (swt) that you inherit your father and I do not inherit mine?

Surely you have come up with an unprecedented thing. Do you intentionally abandon the Book of Allah (swt) and cast it behind your back? Do you not read where it says:  “And Suleiman inherited from his father Dawood?”

And when it narrates the supplication of Zachariah and says: `So give me an heir as from you! One that will inherit me, and inherit the posterity of Al-Yaqoob

And Allah (swt) thus directs you in the same book as regards to your children’s inheritance:

‘Male inherits a portion equal to that of two females’ and, if he leaves any goods, he should make a bequest to parents and next of kin, according to reasonable usage.’

While Allah (swt) has openly revealed this yet you still claim that I have no share! And that I do not inherit my Father (pbuh)! What! Did Allah (swt) reveal a verse regarding you, from which He excluded my Father (pbuh)? Or do you say: `These, Fatima (pbuh) and her Father (pbuh), are the people of two different faiths and nation, and thus they do not inherit each other?!’ Are we not, me and my father, a people adhering to same faith? Or is it that you have more knowledge about the specifications and generalizations of the Quran than my father and my cousin (Imam Ali (pbuh))?

So, here you are! Take it (Fadak). As if bridling a camel ready with its nose rope and saddled! But O Caliph, it shall encounter you on the Day of Gathering; thus what a wonderful judge is Allah (swt), and Muhammad (pbuh) is our savior and leader. O’ Caliph be prepared for its consequences on the Day of Reckoning. At the time of the hour the wrongdoers shall lose; and it shall not benefit you to regret your actions then! For every Message, there is a time limit; and soon shall ye know who will be inflicted with wrath of Allah (swt) that will humiliate him, and who will be confronted by an everlasting punishment.

(Bibi Fatima (pbuh) then turned towards the Ansars and said :

O you people of Ansar! The strong supporters of the nation! And those who embraced and protected Islam; what is this short-coming in defending my right? And what is this slumber while you see injustice being done towards me? Did not the Messenger of Allah (swt), my Father (pbuh), used to say: “A man is upheld and remembered by protecting and supporting his children?” O How quickly you have made alterations in the Islam. Surely you are capable of helping me in my attempt and impart my rightful demand.

Allah (swt)’s Prophet, Muhammad (pbuh) has perished; surely this is a great calamity; its damage is excessive its injury is great; its wound is too deep to heal. Disparities and deviations appeared in the nation. The Earth became darkened with His (pbuh) departure; the stars eclipsed for his calamity; hopes were seized; mountains submitted; sanctity was violated. His holiness was encroached upon and its veneration declined after His death. Therefore, this, by Allah (swt), is the great affliction, and the grand calamity; there is not an affliction which is the like of it; nor will there be a sudden misfortune as surprising as this. And this news has been announced everywhere in a very jubilios note.

Adversities had previously come upon His (Allah (swt)’s) Prophets and Messengers; for it is a decree final, and predestination fulfilled. Allah (swt) says: “Muhammad (pbuh) is not but an Apostle: Many were the apostles that passed away before him. If He (pbuh) demised, will you then turn back on your heels and return to your religion of ignorance? If anyone did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah (swt); but Allah (swt) on the other hand will swiftly reward those who serve Him with gratitude.

“O people of Aus and Khizrij; and Ansar, Can you see that the inheritance of my Father (pbuh) is being usurped from me! My eyes are fixated on you and I can hear what you can say, while you are sitting and gathered around me. You hear my call, and are included in the news of the affair. And you are numerous and well equipped! You have the means and the power, and the weapons and the shields. Yet, the call reaches you but you do not answer; the cry comes to you but you do not come to help, while you are characterized by struggle and fight against foes, known for goodness and welfare. You are the selected group which was chosen by the Messenger (pbuh) for us, Ahlul-Bayt (pbuh). You fought the Arabs, bore the pain and exhaustion, struggled against the nations, and resisted their heroes. And you were always quick in obeying us.

So when Islam became triumphant, the accomplishment of the days came near, the fort of polytheism was subjected, the outburst of infidelity calmed down, and the system of religion was well-ordered, why have you then become confused after clearness? Conceal matters after announcing them? Turned on your heels after daring? Associated others with Allah (swt) after believing?

Allah (swt)’s wrath be upon them who violated their oaths, Plotted to expel the Apostle and allied with others (you being the first ones) in our enmity, you fear them. Nay, it is Allah (swt) whom you should more justly fear, if you believe!

I see that you have finally gone into subordination and ease of living; you have distanced yourself from the one who is the most rightful to order the affairs of the Muslims (Imam Ali (pbuh)). Indeed Ali (pbuh) is your savior and guardian. He is the most apt in conception and representation of Islam.

You have returned into the comfort of inaction, and you have sought an easy life instead of a hard one, and whatever you had heard and retained you have forgotten, and what you had swallowed you have vomited i.e. of Islamic teachings; So, if you become disbelievers, along with all others on earth, most surely Allah (swt) would not be concerned.

Beware! I have said what I had to say on the basis of the dereliction of obligations that has come on you, and the betrayal that you have done; you refused to verify and support me. And I apprehended your defiance.

And all this is the result of the welling up of the soul, and the explosion of my anger, and the emission of the heart.

So get hold of this camel (Caliphate) and ride its tail; But remember it has a sore back, and its feet are injured, and shame will linger with it; it is marked with the wrath of Allah (swt) and an eternal disgrace; it is linked to Hellfire, whose flames have reached up to the very hearts; what you do is in front of Allah (swt), and those who transgress shall certainly come to know how they will be overthrown and overturned; and I am the daughter of the one who warned you of severe punishment. So you do what you want to and we will endure and will be patient, and you await Allah (swt)’s vengeance and we shall await His justice and fairness.

The Caliph replied:

‘O daughter of the Messenger of Allah (swt)! You are truthful and rightful in all your statements but I heard the Prophet (pbuh) state: “we group of Prophets neither do inherit from anyone nor have anyone who would inherit from us.’

Bibi Fatima (pbuh) replied him, saying:

“SubhanAllah (swt)! (Praise is to Allah (swt)!) The Messenger of Allah (swt) never turned away from the Book of Allah (swt), and neither was He (pbuh) ever opposed to the Commandments mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. He always followed what was indicated in the Holy Qur’an, and always pursued what was implied in its chapters; have you all combined to betray him by ascribing to him what is untrue and deceptive? And all this, after his death, is similar to what was plotted against him during his lifetime.

This Book of Allah (swt) is the most just of all judges and let it be judging between me and you and is the most rationally articulate in deciding between good and evil, truth and falsehood; the Holy Qur’an states: (the Prophet of Allah (swt)) “Zachariah said, ‘Grant me one who will inherit me and inherit from the descendants of Al- Yaqoob ‘”. It also reveals “And Suleiman inherited from Dawood.” The Most Glorified and the Most Honored Allah (swt) has clarified how the installments will be divided, and has laid down laws and rules for obligation and inheritance, and He has made valid what is to be the share of the males and the females, and He has removed from the path the efforts of those who are false, and He has also swept away all possibility of surmise and conjecture, as well as doubts and skepticism of the coming nations; Surely, it is your own selves which have presented an apocryphal matter in a rightful and gratifying manner before you; therefore, patience and endurance is well and good for me, and Allah (swt) is my best Helping in what false you have said.

The Caliph replied:

“Allah (swt) has spoken truthfully and so has His Messenger (pbuh); also, the Prophet’s daughter has also spoken justly; you are the source of wisdom and you are the source of guidance and mercy, and you are the support of Religion and Allah (swt)’s witness of His arguments; I do not repudiate the truthfulness of your opinion, and neither do I deny your speech But it was because of the satisfaction of these Muslims (who believed in the oneness of Allah (swt) and the Prophet hood of your Father (pbuh)) that I  have seized your inheritance and thus they are equal in this seize.

Bibi Fatima Zahra (pbuh) replied:

“O people, who rush towards uttering falsehood and are indifferent to disgraceful and losing actions, you do not seek to reflect upon the Quran, and your hearts are isolated with locks. On your hearts is the stain of the evil, which you committed; it has seized your hearing and your sight, evil is that which you justified; cursed is that which you reckoned, and it is a great abominable matter which you have exchanged for verity. You shall, by Allah (swt), find bearing it, to be a great burden, and its consequence disastrous. (That is) on the day when the cover is removed and will appear to you what is behind it, of wrath. When you will be confronted by Allah (swt) with that which you could never have expected, there will perish, there and then, those who stood on falsehoods.

After this Bibi Fatima (pbuh) turned towards Her Father (pbuh)’s grave and recited some poetic words, the translation of which is as follows:

O my beloved father, amendments were created after you

For who dare would have done so if you were here

We have been devoid of your greatness

As barren ground is of rain,

Your nation is scattered and dispersed

O Prophet of Allah (swt) can you see

How they have left the path of righteousness!”

ما زالت بعد أبيها معصبة الرأس باكية العين، محترقة القلب
“After the death of the Prophet (S), she continually wore the scarf of mourning on her head, possessing crying eyes and a burning heart.” [Al Manaqib, vol. 3 pg. 362]

The sweet period of the Lady of Islam’s life quickly came to an end with the death of the Holy Prophet of Islam (even though throughout her lifetime there was no real sweet period, because there were the constant pressures, wars, and plots of the enemies against Islam and the Prophet of Islam (s.w.a.), taking away her spiritual peace).

With the death of the prophet, new storms of complicated critical events blew up.
The hatred and grudges of Badr, khaibar and Honain that were during the prophet’s time hidden beneath the ashes became visible.

The sects of the “Hypocrites” went to action to take their revenge of Islam and also from the Prophet’s family. Fatimah Zahra (s.a.) was in the center of this circle, of which the poisonous arrows of the enemy flew at her from every direction

Her separation from her father; the sad, tormenting innocence of her husband Ali (a.s.); the plots of the enemy against Islam, and the worry of Fatimah (s.a.) for the future of the Muslims and the Quranic heritage, all joined together, severely straining her pure heart.

Fatimah (s.a.) doesn’t wish to cause Ali (commander of the Faithful) greater grief by relating to him her sadness, because he had already received a severe blow by these unpleasant circumstances and misdeeds created by the people.

For this very reason she would go to the grave of the Prophet (S) and tell him of her grief. And she speaks heart – rendering words that burn our inner soul just like burning embers:
يا أبتاه بقيت و الهةً و حيرانةً فريدة، قد انخمد صوتي و انقطع ظهري و تنغص عيشي
“Father dear, after you, I feel lonely. I have remained perplexed and deprived, my mouth is inclined to silence, and my back is broken, and the wholesome water of life has become bitter to my taste.” [Al Manaqib vol.3 pg. 362]

And, sometimes she would say:
قُل للمُغيّبِ تَحتَ أطباقِ الثّرى ** انْ كُنتَ تَسمَعُ صَرخَتي وَ نِدائيا
صُبّتْ عَليَّ مَصائِبٌ لَوْ أنَّها ** صُبّتْ عَلى الايَّامِ صِرنَ لَيَالِيا
“The person who smells the pure soil of the grave of Prophet (S), it is only fair that until the end of his life he should smell no other perfume. After you, O’ father, so much suffering has fallen upon me that, if they were to fall upon bright Jays, they would turn into dark, gloomy nights.”

Why does Fatimah (s.a.) shed tears in this way?
Why is she so restless?
Why is she as wild rue on fire, without stability?

The answer to these whys must be heard from her own words.

Umm Salamah says:
“When I went to see the Lady of Islam Fatimah (s.a.) after the death of the prophet, and asked her how she was, in reply these meaningful sentences were spoken by her:
أصبحت بين كمد و كرب
فقد النبىِّ و ظلم الوصي
هُتكَ و الله حجابه…
ولكنها أحقاد بدرية
وثارات أحدية
كانت عليها قلوب النفاق مكتمنة
Why are you asking me how I am Umm Salamah, when I am caught in the middle of much sadness and suffering? On the one hand I have lost my father, the Prophet (S) and on the other hand (I see with my own eyes that) there has been injustice done to his successor, (Ali ibn Abi Talib).
I swear to God that they have torn the curtain of his inviolability (reverence).
But I know that these are the grudges of Badr and the revenges of Uhud, that were hidden in the hearts of the hypocrites (non-believers).” [Manaqib Ibn Shahr Ashoob; vol. 2 pg. 225]

All of her defences of the boundaries of the holiness of everything noble and her support of Ali (s.a.) right during this time of pain and suffering are not hidden from anyone.

Even though her life after the Prophet of Islam was as brief as she had begged God to be, being not more than two or three months before she rushed to the Holy Presence of God and met her father. However, in this Period of time she didn’t omit any self-sacrificing, generous effort in Ali’s right or for the defence of Islam.

“Peace be upon you, O’ daughter of the Messenger of God.”
